Rachel is a dream to work with. She upholstered a tufted armchair and ottoman for me and they are so beautiful. The compliments pour in every time someone sees her craftsmanship. Communication and timeliness was spot on and her prices are reasonable. Great job Rachel - look forward to working with you again in the future!

Interview Q&A
What is your primary product or service?
Knox Upholstery's primary service is furniture re-upholstery.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I first became interested in the upholstery business after I upholstered numerous historical pieces for the Clarence Brown Theatre as the Props Assistant. My boss was taught by a master upholsterer and I learned from her. It was a great experience and I simply fell in love with the antiques and the process of upholstery. So, after a certain amount of time I decided to strike out on my own and start Knox Upholstery.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I'm not sure how to differentiate myself from the other businesses in the area. Many of the top businesses do incredible work. I have spoken with many of the owners and I even refer business out to a hand-full that I trust to do as great a job as Knox Upholstery (and sometimes even better if they have a certain area of expertise that I do not). What I can say, is that every piece you see on the website has been hand upholstered by me. Not by a helper, not by another upholsterer, but by me. I truly love the craft and I want to deliver a piece that a client will be proud to showcase in their home or business.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Rachel Fletcher.
What are your hours of operation?
By appointment only.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
I have four compliments that I really enjoy:
1. "I love it!"
2. "I'm recommending you to all of my friends."
3. "I have more work for you after this."
4. "Thank you." - I don't think people say this enough in general, so I like to hear it on occasion.
